Break Away
This is a consequence of a model’s movement, not a separate action.
This is good for me in particular, because it allows the elf to back up a step from a melee and still ping off a shot in the one turn (assuming she survives).

Ok thats cool, makes more sense that way. At one point I think the BoW guys treat it as moving one space and then having to stop completely, good that this isn't the case because that'd be a bit rubbish.

Ok, no map so use your imaginations.

I play Extra 2 Models, giving me 4 activations this turn.

1. Skelly in D1 moves to G2 and attacks Dwarf (-1 for wound).

6, 6 vs 6, 6, 4, 2 (AHHHHRG!)

2. Skelly in D4 moves to G3 and attacks Dwarf (-1 for wound, -1 for outnumbered)

4, 1 vs 6, 6, 4 (SIGH)

3. Skelly in I4 attacks Dwarf (-1 wound, -1 outnumbered)

5, 1 vs 5, 4, 4 (Just... ugh)

4. Bonepile in I3 is raised. Both heroes get an attack, Barb @ -1, Dwarf @ -2

Dwarf: 6, 5, 4 vs 5, 2 = CRUNCH! Skeleton is obliterated!

Man I tell you, I am looking forward to getting some slightly tougher monsters!

One other thing from Quirkworthy:
Outnumbered

A model is outnumbered if it is in the front arc of more than one standing enemy model.
So the number of friendly models is irrelevant, just the number of enemy models in your forward arc when attacked. So skeletons in your rear arc wouldn't count for outnumbering (which seems slightly weird, but whatever).

Also: I realised I did something wrong in the above, but too late now. G2 is in the Dwarfs rear arc, and G3 is in the Barbs rear arc, so I could have gotten more modifiers. Ah well!

The way I read it, it's the number of enemies that have their forward arc facing the target, rather than the number of enemies in the targets forward arc. So yes, a skellie behind you still counts for outnumbering, as long as it is facing you.

Oh wait, it's if the figure is in the front arc of more than one enemy, not more than one enemy in their front arc! That makes much more sense.

Yes the Dwarf is amazing when it's not Mathfuric calling the shots!

I think that the balance between the Dwarf and Barb is a little off. The lower speed doesn't seem like that much of a handicap compared to the high armour value and extra die. Sure the Barb doesn't get a modifier for getting wounded, but still...

The Barbs feat is much cooler though, I'm surprised Suffer hasn't already used it to wipe out all my skellies in one hit.

Before I have my go, does anyone know if the Whirlwind feat still gets a negative modifier for being outnumbered?

The wording of the Feat is; "Make a separate 4 dice attack against every enemy model in a square next to the barbarian. This includes enemies in his rear arc".

I can see an argument for going both ways, but if it does get modified it's a lot less effective...

I don't think there is a modifier given it specifically says 4 dice. After all, barb starts with 4 dice so if modifiers applied surely it should just be "make an attack"

Barbarian uses Feat (Whirlwind)

Attacks skeleton in G2; 4,3,2,1 vs 5,3 Pffft

Attacks Skeleton in G3; 5,4,3,2 vs 6,2 = 2 hits
Skeleton becomes a POB.

Dwarf attack skeleton I4. Attack v Skeleton: 1d6 2 1d6 6 1d6 1 1d6 2 1d6 4 = 1 hit
Dwarf still sucks under my control

Doh sorry guys, this kind of slipped my mind. Been one of those weeks.

Ill look into this on Monday, I'm thinking we should just skip ahead to the main mission to be honest. This is a foregone conclusion and I never did get around to running the other intro mission. The rules are so simplified that I probably needn't have bothered with them, should have started with the proper mission.
