From the end of the last map:

Screaming and gurgling, Splig collapses to the ground. His crown clatters and rolls, coming to rest at your feet. Roaring, still more of the Overlord's monsters spill from doorways and passages behind you - it seems your only option now is to proceed deeper in. Scooping up the iron crown, you do so.

And now, the conclusion of the Ausbowl Descent Campaign:

As you pass through the outer keep, you find yourself approaching Zachareth's throne room. You can see the baron sitting on his throne ahead, attended by his closest servants. He looks... regal.

"You're too late," he smirks. "I've already finished my ritual." The baron stands and swaggers towards you, his cloak billowing majestically. His every movement and word drips with power and awe-inspiring presence. "I lay claim to the throne of Daqan! I am king - I am YOUR king! And you will KNEEL BEFORE ME!"

His words rush through you and you have to grit your teeth and struggle not to kneel. If this is what his ritual has done, you have only one chance to stop him before all of Terrinoth is under his thrall.

Monsters - Zachareth, Lord Merick Farrow, Lady Eliza Farrow, Zombies and 1 Open Group (Golems). I don't care if there were other, better choices out there... I had to bring the Golems back for our final confrontation!

Setup - Monsters placed as shown. The Dark Charm card is taken out of my Discard pile and is placed on the table (although I didn't bother putting it on the map since there is no real reason to put it there except as a reminder to the Overlord).

Obstacles - The areas marked with a Red X are obstacles. You can't walk through them and they block Line of Sight.

The Iron Crown - One of you is carrying the Iron Crown taken from Splig. If you are defeated, it falls in your space and can be picked up as an action. It can also be traded from one hero to another during a Move action as per other equipment.

Kneel Before Your King - During my turn, as an Action either Zachareth, Eliza or Merrick may use the Dark Charm spell on any hero (ignoring it's normal Start of Turn timing). This card can affect any hero, ignoring Range or Line of Sight, EXCEPT the Hero carrying the Iron Crown who is immune.

Playing for Keeps - This is the final battle! Any hero who is defeated is KILLED and removed from the game.

Reinforcements - At the End of each turn I may place 1 Zombie on the Entrance.

Victory - The Heroes must defeat Zachareth. I need to defeat all four Heroes.

Monster Stuff -

Zombies - Can only take 1 move action per turn (although they can also use Dash for a second move). They have Disease on a Surge, +2 Damage on a Surge and the Master Zombie can Grab and adjacent Hero (test Might, Fail = Immobilized).

Golems - Have Iron Skin (no pierce or status effects allowed). The Minion has +1 and Master has +2 Damage on a Surge. The Master is also Unmovable (only relevant for Steelhorns heroic feat).

Lord Merrick has:
Aftershock - If an Adjacent Hero attacks Merrick, they must test Willpower. Lose 1 Stamina if they fail.
Ignite (Action) - Merrick suffers 1 Damage to attack all adjacent figures. I can't suicide with this skill though.
Wither (Surge) - Lose 1 Stamina.
+1 Damage (Surge)
Duskblade - Adjacent Heros suffer -1 Speed for their turn, and he gains Pierce 5 (Surge).

Lady Eliza has:
Sacrifice (Action) - Deal up to 5 damage to an adjacent monster to allow Eliza to heal the equivalent amount of health.
Seduce (Action) - Choose a hero within 3 spaces and test Eliza's Willpower. If Eliza passes, move the hero 1 space in any direction and the hero is stunned.
Wail (Action) - All heroes within 3 spaces of Eliza must test Willpower. Lose 2 Stamina if they fail.
Blood Call (Surge) - Eliza recovers health equal to the damage dealt after defense dice are rolled.
Bones of Woe - At the start of my turn I roll 1 Blue die, on a Surge I draw an extra Overlord Card.

Zachareth has:
Dominion (Action) - Zachareth tests Willpower. If he passes, he may move a hero within his line of sight 2 spaces in any direction. After the mvement, the hero tests Willpower. If he fails the hero is Immobilized.
Pierce 2 (Surge)
Subdue (Surge) - If the attack deals at least 1 damage, apply a condition of my choice.
Shadow Bolt (Action) - Zachareth performs a Ranged Attack (Blue, Red, Yellow)
Shadow Rune - Grants +2 Damage (Surge), +1 Range & +1 Damage (Surge), Draw 1 Overlord Card (Surge)

You only get your extra yellow for one attack muchacho. Still enough to kill it I think without it with 5+1 damage (you had 7+1 when I'm pretty sure it was 6+1)

Steelhorns thinks this might be a suicide mission! Oh well Kalamazoo, lets have at you.

Action: Move to M5

Action: Mighty overhead swing at Minor Zombie [L5]
Mace of Kellos v Minor Zombie Blue; Red; Yellow; Yellow: 1d6 3 1d6 5 1d6 3 1d6 3 = 7 damage
Minor Zombie defence Brown: 1d6 2 = 0 Defence
Damage: 7 Damage - 0 Defence = Dead Zombie

Code: Select all

Name: Steelhorns (Fighter/Knight)
Ability: If you perform 2 move actions you may suffer 1 Fatigue to perform an attack at the end of your turn.

Attributes: Characteristics:
Might: 5 Speed: 4
Willpower: 3 Health: 16 (16)
Knowledge: 1 Stamina: 4 (4)
Awareness: 2 Defence: 2 Grey (Chainmail) + 1 Brown (shield)

Equipment:
Mace of Kellos (Melee), 175gp: One Handed, Hammer. Surge = Each animal adjacent suffers 1 damage, or Recover 1 damage. 1 Blue, 1 Red, 1 Yellow Die.
Chain Mail (Heavy), 150gp: Additional Grey dice for defence. Speed cannot be increased past 4.
Heavy Steel Shield, 100gp: Exhaust this card after rolling defence dice to reroll 1 defence dice and add 1 shield to the result.
Ring of Power, 150gp: Gain +1 stamina.

Class Skill(s):
Oath of Honour: Action, Cost 1 Fatigue. Choose another hero within 3 spaces of you who has a monster adjacent to him. Place your hero figure in the closest empty space adjacent to the monster and perform an attack with a Melee weapon against that monster.
Defend (1 XP): When a hero adjacent to you is targeted by an attack, use this card (Cost 1 Fatigue) to instead declare yourself as the target. Range and line of sight are still measured to the targeted heroes space. (Note this would be tricky to do in an online setting, you'd need to nominate who you are protecting etc before I take my turn).
Defence Training (2 XP): As long as you have a Shield equipped, add 1 additional Brown die to your defence pool (even if this card is exhausted). When you would exhaust your currently equipped Shield (such as to use the Shield's ability), you may exhaust this card instead.
Inspiration (3 XP): At the start of your turn, if you are adjacent to at least one other hero, you and each other hero adjacent to you recover 1 Fatigue.
Stalwart (3 XP): You gain +2 Health. When you are defeated, you may immediately move up to your Speed and perform an attack with a Melee weapon. After the attack is resolved, you are knocked out.

Heroic Feat: Move your Speed. During this movement, you may enter spaces occupied by monster figures and move those figures into an adjacent empty space (or closest empty space) of your choice. (delete section when used)

Olaf asked me to take Teths turn, he plotted it I'm just rolling dice:

Running Shot to L2, shooting Master Zombie:

Range 4, Damage 7 (+2 from Surge) vs 2 Defence - 1 = 6 Damage

Another Running Shot, shooting Master Zombie:

Range 4, Damage 6 (+2 from Surge) vs 1 Defence - 1 = 6 Damage. Master Zombie is Dead.

Teth moves to N3

Overlord time. I draw 1 card (Bones of Woe fails)

I'll start with the Golems. The Master Golem opens the door and remains where he is.

The Minion Golem double moves to K4/L5.

Next, Eliza. She moves to J5. She then uses Seduce on Steelhorns. She passes, Steel is moved to N5 and is Stunned.

Next I play Zachareth. He moves forward to E4 and bellows "KNEEL BEFORE YOUR KING CHALLARA!" Against her Will, Challara obeys, blasting herself in the face.

Damage 7 (2 from Surge) vs Defence 3 = 4 Damage.

Finally I activate Merrick. Playing Dash, he double moves to M2. Laughing like a maniac, he bursts into flame (taking 1 damage himself) and attacking both Challara and Tetherys. I play Expert Blow on this attack, adding 2 damage.

7 Damage + Pierce 5 (Surge) vs 2 Defence (Chal) and 3 Defence (Teth).

Teth takes the full 7 Damage. By burning all 6 Stamina, Challara only takes 4 Damage meaning she still has 2 health. Because I used the Surge on Pierce, Expert Blow is discarded.

That ends my turn. A Master Zombie spawns on N1.

"NOT ENOUGH" roars Zachareth. "SACRIFICE YOURSELF TO DESTROY THEM MERRICK!"

I play Blood Rage on Merrick ;)

Attack 1 vs Challara: 4 Damage vs 0 Defence = 4 Damage. Challara is KILLED, I draw 1 card. Brightblaze disappears in a puff of smoke.

Attack 2 vs Tetherys: A miss!

Lord Merrick Farrow is defeated!

Pierce my good friend, Merrick had 5 Pierce on a Surge.

Hit 1 against yourself did 4 Damage
Hit 2 from Merrick was 7 - 2 - 6 + 5 = 4 Damage.
Hit 3 from Merrick was also 4 Damage

For a total of 12.

Yes, you spend Stamina to add Defence. Pierce cancels out Defence, therefore you had to have a defence of 6+ before you could start reducing the damage dealt.

And yes, mathematically speaking what I posted was correct.

I do Damage 7
You have Defence 2 + 6 - 5 = 3.

In other words 7 - (2 + 6 - 5) = 4 = 7 - 2 - 6 + 5. Because your defence was greater than or equal to my pierce value, both methods are valid.

um well obviously I would have used it to absorb all the hit from the non pierce guy.. so no damage to start

7 damage from the next hit
and then I burn my last 2 stamina to only take 2 damage from the last hit

go to compare the meerkat.com

The non pierce guy was YOU, you did not have the option of using skills at that point.

There is no way to avoid this, Challara is an ex-Mage, she has ceased to be :P

yeah its cool... probably didnt see the danger per se and should have huddled around steelhorns.

Its one of the unfortunate issues with the format rather than face to face, as you hold most of the cards when it comes to following along and interacting with cards and abilities the best.

That said I cant see why Challara couldnt use her ghost armor against her own attack its damage from an attack regardless of where it comes from

Well no it doesn't essentially make sense. The card says you take control to make an attack, it doesn't say the player is not allowed to use other skills or equipment. Normal rules apply unless specifically stated
