The first part is correct. ;) As we all know, halflings and goblins are practically unplayable without inducements, and stars might offer some help to underworld and vampires. I'm not too sure that there's any benefit for ogres.

Regarding the tiers in general, they were instituted because the previous World Cup had a horrible spread of teams. Five team types made up more than half of the field, and I don't think that's representative of the game. Also, because of the team format many coaches felt that they "had" to take a top tier race in order to avoid letting their side down. The tier format might just shift the meta slightly, but hopefully it's better than nothing.

Devilsreject, the World Cup will be classified as a Major Tournament. But my understanding is that it won't really matter to a tournament of this size because there's a cap on K-Rating.

Looking forward to meeting some of you there!

I fear that the big gap in handicap between Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams may produce some wild and possibly unintended consequences. For example, if few coaches take Dwarfs and Chaos Dwarfs, that would work to the advantage of coaches taking WEs, DEs or Lizzies. And Undead will still be foul on the last day, with 2 doubles (as at the last WC).

I hope, however, that the power coaches at the top of the NAF rankings will be reluctant to risk their poor darlings at the WC. That might just be a good result before the tourney starts.

All the best.

Personally smeborg I'd like to chance to take a bite out of the 'power coaches' big old rankings ;) :P

This kind of shift in meta is something i look forward to in shifting rulesets. If one was demonised by every ruleset then thats not fun. But the interesting thing here is that its purely speculation. So do Amazons become really good? or is the trick to take a team which will shutdown those teams?

Id have to suggest that Dwarves down 2 skills are not hugely disadvantaged given they are so solid and reliable an cheap to begin with.

If anything i think CDs and Orcs suffer more.

And in my experience Lizards don't fear playing Dwarves. The opposite is potentially true. I think the natural predators of Lizards are Woodies. Hard to pin all that Dodge/ Blodge and very hard to defend skinks from the Leaping WDs

Hardly Nurgle ;)

Plenty of teams can get the tools to take Woodies apart. Lizards not so much without multi skilled Saurus.

OK crunch time folks:

REGISTRATION FOR THE WORLD CUP WILL BE FROM JAN 30th -> MAR 8th ONLY!!! This is due to some scheduling issue with the venue and the need to lock in the details ASAP.
sann0638 wrote:Please note that registration doesn't open until January 30th and then closes on March 8th. The website linked in the document won't be operational until then. That means you have roughly a month to form your team and decide who's playing what!
So time for Oz and NZ to make their intentions clear.

Please note we are coordinating teams here and will do our best to form full teams of your fellows OZ/NZ coaches, but you can also enter as a "freebooter" to pick up a spare spot as well.
Beppe wrote:When you'll register on the website, you will also find the information for the accomodation. The final cost will be 44€ for player and it will include a unique 12 players team, sculpted just for the WC
So total of 44 Euros for each coach including a Commemorative team by Greebo.
andrea_parrella wrote:Hello everyone!

On 30th January at weblink http://worldcup.luccini.it (sublink of our webpage http://www.luccini.it) will be online the application form for buy the ticket of World Cup (€ 44: € 29 for the participation plus € 15 for the commemorative team by Greebo).
In addition to that will be possibile to buy the commemorative field (optional, by FF-Fields) and will be possibile to book the hotel (with the prices that the organization agreed with hotels).

The inscription will be:
* for team (captain will register the complete 6-members team)
OR
* individual (as in Amsterdam will be teams with the coach that will be register singly)

Then the captain (in the first case) or the single participant (in the second case) can be pay the total amount (within 16th of March) with a wire transfer to the bank account of association "LudoLega Lucchese".

I hope that it's everything clear, for any question you can write here or at the mail that will be active from the 30th of January: info (at) luccini dot it

Many of the Tier 2 teams look excellent value to me, for example: Chaos Pact, Chaos, Nurgle, Khemri and perhaps especially Slann.

All the best.

I think Underworld get a lot more value out of stars than almost any other race, trouble is choosing. Fez is great and he always performs for me, skitter can wreck some peoples days with his speed and stab, Glart is ST4 with claw so nothing bad there

Underworld, i normally go Skitter.. he is a Gutter Runner, enough said... :P . Though seriously anything else is candy. Stab for Blodgey Ball Carriers, Shadowing to annoy in corner cases, and did I mention a Gutter Runner??? :D

He is also 40k cheaper than Glart who gives some scare factor vs Armour and ST but I find the ability to motor out of trouble is better for Underworld. Esp. with all the Stunty dodging and a Gutter Runner... ;) :P .

I'm looking at Pact/ Human/ Fling... not necessarily in that order. Main consideration I'm weighing is which will be most fun through the long haul of 3 days and 9 games of dice rolling. :)

Fun is a big factor in that many games, i was considering the flings for that reason. No expectation = All fun

I find i have a ball with Uworld, they are really hard to pin down, faster than they seem on paper and can actually bash well with some help. Then there is the modeling opportunity to make a team from almost scratch and do some proper greenstuffing. Fun to paint as they have such good variation in the race department.
