There is another kiwi coach interested:

Gishnu (Tim Owens) - possible

No more than a possible at this stage, but he is a keen BB tourist, and I am in conversation with him.

All the best

Team ANZAC update: Nick Blackwood has pulled out.

Tim Owens has asked to be pencilled in as a yes, to be confirmed later this month.

I am waiting to hear from Dan Norman, but he has indicated to Nick Blackwood that he will join the team if asked (he had joined another team in England, where he now resides).

I am waiting to hear from Jim McMahon (also in the UK). He was previously very keen.

So this would give:

Paul Deacon - confirmed
James Hills - confirmed
Tim Owens - awaiting confirmation
Dan Norman - awaiting confirmation
Jim McMahon - probable, awaiting reply
Andrew Vulling - trying to make contact

Assuming Andrew Vulling is able and willing to go to the World Cup (he was keen at CanCon), it would seem appropriate for him to join Team ANZAC, given the team's ahem proud history, and that he was its captain 4 years ago.

All the best.

Team ANZAC update:

Dan Norman has confirmed, taking us to 4 definites.

I still have not heard a peep from either Jim McMahon or Andrew Vulling (both keen when we last spoke).

What is the status of the Colonials now?

All the best

Seems I've been left out of the anzacs. Fair enough as smeborg doesn't know who I am. I'll jump in the colonials if you need someone to fill the last spot.

I am still waiting to hear from 2 potential ANZACS.

If I do not hear from them, or they opt out, I will still be looking for 1 or 2 coaches.

Sorry, Gunnar, I was unaware of your interest until alerted recently by Selwyn.

All the best.

cool so worst case it seems we have 2 full teams. Wombat, colonials and anzac are within 2 of a full team. We can ask Europeans to fill it out...

And 3 days ahead of schedule:P

Team ANZAC update:

Jim McMahon (formerly of Christchurch, now in England, somewhere in A Shropshire Lad country) has confirmed. This takes us to:

Paul Deacon - confirmed
James Hills - confirmed
Tim Owens - pencilled in as a yes, awaiting final confirmation
Dan Norman - confirmed
Jim McMahon - confirmed
Andrew Vulling - invited, no reply yet

Andrew is in the same situation as Jim, with a young family, so I will give him a day or two before I pester him again.

All the best.

Team ANZAC update:

I am please to advise that Andrew Vulling, after playing hard to get, has confirmed for Team ANZAC. Tim Owens has also re-confirmed. This takes us to a complete team of 6:

Paul Deacon (myself) - Christchurch
James Hills - Munich, formerly of Auckland
Tim Owens - Christchurch
Dan Norman - England, cider country, formerly of Auckland
Jim McMahon - England, A Shropshire Lad country, formerly of Christchurch
Andrew Vulling - Canberra

Andrew and myself are both survivors of Team ANZAC from the last World Cup in Amsterdam.

I will try to get round to registration in the next few days, in between organising Team Kiwi for Fremantle, and watching the other World Cup (cricket) - 2 matches in Christchurch this weekend, I have tickets.

All the best.

I hope everyone in NZ and Oz who wants to go to the World Cup now has a place in a team.

If there is anyone who is still looking for a team, or if you are aware of anyone in that position, here is the place to let us know.

All the best.

To prevent being pestered by Hutch, I registered Team ANZAC this week. I may have to re-register in the future, depending on what accommodation option we decide on. A bit bureaucratic that, not to mention the need for passport copies.

One accommodation option we are looking at is a Tuscan villa for the team. May work out well as it is the lowest season of the year for tourism.

All the best.
