Ugh, these freakin' linos! These mongrels better double and stat boost like no one's business once I start playing them, or they'll be getting the hammer treatment. 2/3rds of the way through the "white" process, just need to apply a 1:2 fortress grey : white layer, then a final line highlight of pure white.

[sorry, no photos, this post is principally to remind me where I left off when I get back from the Easter break]

Happy Easter, all! :)

Painting has resumed on the linos, and the white is only a couple more layers from being complete. (Phew!)

In other, apothecary-related news, I ended up ordering Dr Douglas McMourning as well as Sebastian. They've just been assembled and based, and I'm very happy with them - brilliant character and expressions, and the scale is perfect too.

Just need to add a smattering of severed limbs/heads to the bases, and they'll be ready to prime. I think I'll go with Duggo as the team apoth, and Seb can be a wanderer.

Cheers, NFA.

Well, that was a bit of a slog, but they're finally off the paint pots and just need bullet-proofing and static grassing.

And yes, brown boots on a brown base are cr@p, but the static grass added as the very last step will brighten them up a treat!

Looking great. My starting lineup was finished last night as well. I'll need to remember to give them some bulletproofing before Friday's game.

Numbering is really neat. Nerd goggles?

Very nice work birdman. Do you find that "bullet proofing" over the metallic chest plates dulls them?

Thanks, all. SinDex, bullet-proofing (particularly the dull-cote) definitely takes a bit of gleam off the metallics, but not enough for me to get too concerned about it. I have heard of some people doing a final light dry brush over the metallic areas after the varnishing, but I've never seen the need, myself.

I find Dullcoating does make metals fairly dull, but you can pretty easily paint GW gloss varnish over any such areas afterward to bring back the gleam...

The metal models have always been bigger than the plastic boxset ones.

Try and get the 2004 griff, he is a bit smaller

Thanks for that suttbutt, duly noted. Now, any idea where I might get my hands on one of them? That won't cost me, say, hundreds of dollars? :)

In any case, linos are done. That final smattering of green grass sets them off marvellously, I reckon.

Next up, blitzers and the leftover thrower:

Be sure to check back in 2-3 months, when I've hopefully basecoated them! :P

Awesome paint job sir. Really shows what can be achieved with, in my humble view, sub-par miniatures. They look amazing and I hope the cool paint job wows your opponents into rolling bad dice.

You could sell a kidney.... or go through the various backwater forges from the lands known as china......

You'd have to convert him a bit anyway, the 2004 team was pretty heavily stylized to be spikey spikey and more spikey.

I hope you're talking about this one:

and not this one:

I kinda like the first Willy one, but it'll be huge next to the 3rd ed plastics. What's wrong with good old 3rd ed birdhelmet griff anyway?
