Beginning a stunty team

Post by Moraiwe »

So I discovered these fairly old figures recently, and thought they'd make a great stunty team.

Not sure whether I want to use them as Halflings or Goblins yet. I'll probably use them as both. Anyway, while its sure to be a slow process, this thread will serve as my first paint blog (even if in the end I draft the missus in to paint them).

Figures arrived today and I got to work. Here's what they look like after I've snipped the spears, and added some rock golems as the big guys (I'll need a better camera for future posts)

I have a bigger golem, which can serve as a star player, but it also has a flail which I intend to cut-off and use as the ball & chain.

I love those I saw them before but can't quite remember where, will have to google.
Best of luck, Goblins have more prospect when it comes to models due to special weapons.

They do have the makings of a great (and distinctive!) team.

Looks the good. The rock golems are in the same style as the other dudes as well, which is nice, probably the same sculptor I imagine. Pygmies are even in the ancient WHFB fluff so it's suitable in world if you care. Not too hard to make a ball and chain and a chainsaw (I really like the chainsaws I've seen made out of the current GW savage orc Warboss with the savage orc "big stikka" blade stuck on the end, you could probably do a similar thing with their really nice rock-spearhead weapons in that kit).

Not sure what you would do for the pogo and the bomb. Maybe the bomb could be a shaman flinging spells around? Pogo could be a feathery set of wings like the doom diver? And you probably want to make seconds of the ball & chain and the chainsaw so you can induce the second one.

Good luck with it.

Very cool and original concept, I love it. Keep us posted, as much as I appreciate all the high-brow tactical discussion of a beer and pretzels dice game on this site, my favorite posts are definitely the hobby-related ones! ;)

Oh and you'll need a Zara too if you're playing Flings. I think Reaper make a good voodoo priestess.

Yup. Even has a knife for her stab.

But if it was me I'd get a different mask either from one of the little guys or from the GW Savage Orc Special Character shaman.

You can order the pygmy masks separately through the Reaper webstore, if you want to modify other minis (like Rhazia) to match.

Already have 15 of the masks. The amusing thing is that you can order the indivdual pygmys but they don't have complete heads - just a feature-less flat surface to glue the masks to. Though not a deal-breaker for me, it's a fairly significant downside to the figures.

Looooong overdue update. Decided I prefer them as Goblins, so making secret weapons needed doing. I've got the following done

But would like some help on what to do for the 'Ooligan. This is the model I'm using.

I thought his upheld hand could hold a pennant, but am interested in others' ideas.

Love him. If you have a spare boot, helmet, or glove from another team, it could work very well too.

very smelly boot could work for the disturbing presence aura.

This team just came up for sale on facebook. I realise they are different figures but for small figures, I really like the use of such vibrant colours to make them stand out.

Just came across these 25mm pygmies which could augment your team or provide figures for counters

Seen them before, but they don't really match at all. The Witch doctor, maybe.
