MOUNTAIN BOWL is ALIVE!! 5 Jan 19

Post by Knine »

10 am kickoff, 5 Jan 19 at Gametraders in Penrith. One day, four games using a slight variation on the CANCON rules (good chance to give your CANCON line-up a trial run.

$15, includes two 'Mountain Bowl' D6. Graphic attached to this post.

Mountain Bowl D6
RULEZZZZ:

This will be submitted as a NAF Registered Event. New Coaches will be encouraged to join the NAF.

The venue is limited to 24 coaches, so get in early!!

Rule Sets:
• Blood Bowl Competition Rules Pack found at this link.
• NAF Rules Amendments Aug17 at this link.
• The Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld teams at this link.
• The Bretonnian and Khorne teams at this link.
• Plus, Spike magazine rules. But, as many people are not yet familiar with the Spike rules, if you’re going to use anything out of the Spike magazines, bring the Spike mag with you. If you can’t agree with your opponent about a Spike mag rule, check with the Commish (and our resident guru, Hutchi, is expected to be there to arbitrate).

Tournament Format (similar to CANCON – a good chance to test your CANCON team):
• Start of the game: roll for weather, fans/fame and kick off; that’s it (no ref, stadium, etc).
• Resurrection-style tournament with pre-determined skill progression
• 4 game swiss style round robin
• 4 games on Saturday 5 JAN 19, plus presentations – Time table is below.
• Teams have $1,100,000gp to spend including players and inducements (no skills).
• All inducements allowed except NO SPECIAL PLAY CARDS
• Teams must have a minimum of eleven (11) players (including star players).
• Prizes for first, second, Stunty and painting. If we have enough coaches, we’ll add in more (see below).
• Stunty teams include Lizards (no saurus); and Underworld (no skaven).

Skill Progression:
• Teams will play the first game with no additional skills
• After each game, teams will be allowed to assign two normal skills to separate players.
• No double skills allowed (exception: stunty teams may substitute one double for one normal at the end of each game, but no player may have two double skills).
• No player may have more than 2 additional skills EXCEPT for the last game.
• All skills are to be pre-chosen before the tournament. Email your team sheets (one for each game) to bill.knine@yahoo.com.au
• Please have your Real Name, NAF Name and NAF Number on your Teamsheet.
Additional Notes on Rules:
• All casualties, no matter how they are caused, count as a team casualty.
• Illegal Procedure is not playable unless BOTH coaches agree pre kickoff.
• Dice Cups are allowed and encouraged as long as 3 Block Dice can site inline at the bottom of the cup in any direction; meaning Backgammon Cups are not allowed.
• One Match Report per Game (available from the Commissioner) has to be handed in and signed by both Coaches.

Team Rosters:
• No changes to the roster on the day of the tournament.
• I will provide copies of team sheets to all players for all games; including a copy of each team for each opponent.
• Numbers on the roster should match the numbers on your playing pieces!!!
• Email your team sheets (one for each game) to bill.knine@yahoo.com.au
• Please have your Real Name, Team Name, NAF Name and NAF Number on your Teamsheet.

Time Table
1000 – 1230 Game 1+Lunch. Collect your team rosters, match record and paint vote slip, then hook into your game. Sort out lunch arrangements with your opponent.
1230 – 1430 Game 2
1430 – 1445 Break
1445 – 1645 Game 3
1645-1700 Break
1700-1930 Game 4 and dinner
1930-1945 Clean-up gaming area
1945-2000 Award Presentations

If you haven’t finished by 5 minutes to run, coaches are to note the current game turn, and the game will end on the current turn (after each player has completed it).
What To Bring?
• Your team including all miniatures; including star players
• A board. If everyone brings a board, then we will have twice as many boards as required, but if you have one bring it anyway.
• Please have your Real Name, NAF Name and NAF Number on your Teamsheet.
• Dice. Some players like to share dice; some do not. Don’t be caught short if you have no dice and your opponent does not like to share!
• Official NAF Blocking Dice are preferred, but custom Blocking Dice can be used if opponent agrees to their use. Homemade dice, using d6’s as block dice or any dice modified or alterations in anyway are not allowed.
• Pens / Pencils! Bring some spares!
• Superglue in case an arm falls off a miniature and emergency repairs are required.

Miniatures
• Miniatures must be painted to a “decent” 3 colour minimum standard. Raw metal miniatures cannot be played.
• All miniatures must closely reflect the race and position of each player.
• All players must be clearly numbered with preference for the number to be on the base on the front and back.
• There is no restriction on the brand of miniatures, they do not have to be Games Workshop miniatures as long as they convey the genre that is blood bowl (eg: you cannot use lego men or any other “comical” item as a miniature).
• Star Players do not have to be the official GW Star Player miniature but must be painted again to a decent standard, but don’t need to be in your official team colours (eg, you may use your generic Griff or Varag or borrow one).

Scoring System
The tournament points scoring system will work as follows:
• Winning The Match 50pts
• Drawing The Match 20pts
• Losing by 1 TD 10pts
• Losing by >1 TD 0pts
• For each TD scored: 1pt
• For each CAS scored: 1pt (ALL Casualties, not just blocking)

The coach with the highest score at the end of the 4 Games will be crowned Mountain Bowl 19-1 Champion. Ties will be separated by countback.

Painting & Modelling
There will be an award for best painted team.

As you play your opponents, you will have a voting slip to give a score for the quality of the painting on your opponent’s team.

The painting award is only for original work done by the coach using the team. If you didn’t paint your team, declare it to your opponent before they score your painting.

Prizes
Tbd – still working this. Watch the Facebook site

Coaches will select something from the prize table on the basis of the following order:

1. First Place!
2. Runner Up
3. Stunty King
4. Best Painted Team
If there are still prizes to go:
5. 3rd Place
6. Most Touchdowns
7. Most Casualties
8. Fourth place
9. Fifth place
10. Etc til the prizes are gone.
Each coach can only have one pick at the prize table.

A coach who is eligible to win more than one of the top 6 awards will receive the higher one with the next best coach taking the award lower on the list.
Attitude / Etiquette
• Sportsmanship means different things to different people. The important thing is that we’re all playing for fun; therefore you should be engaging with your opponent, smile, enjoy the game win, lose or draw. Be gracious in both victory and in defeat.
• Having said that a few pointers:
o Throwing of dice or miniatures in anger will not be tolerated.
o Disagreements re rules etc should not get heated and should be referred to The Commissioner for adjudication before it gets to that stage.
o When you roll your 4th Double Skulls in the match, please be mindful of overly loud swearing as the event is held in a store, and there are kids around.
• We need to make sure we keep our Event Area clean, especially with food during the day, a quick rubbish pickup after the last game will occur.
• Match Reports need to be checked and signed by both coaches.
• Match Reports will be reviewed by Commissioner between rounds.

Cost is $15 to be paid in advance.

I won't be able to attend, but good luck! Also did you mean this:
Dice Cups are allowed and encouraged as long as 3 Block Dice can site inline at the bottom of the cup in any direction
Or did you mean
Dice Cups are allowed and encouraged as long as 3 Block Dice can site flat in the bottom of the cup
?

Ah yeah, how did I miss that :(

My request (as a potential player only) would be to remove that please Bill...

FYI Eucbowl dice cups dont fit 3 Dice in a row along the bottom...

When questioned the original writer admitted this is a "don't use Backgammon Dice Cups" issue. Which is fine in theory except there is no similar restrictions placed upon the correct way of rolling dice to avoid a 'flop' or several other misdemeanors.

Additionally, I can put 3 Block dice in a backgammon cup and with little effort have them flipping and flopping all over the place...

This rule is misguided and would benefit the tourney to remove it :)

It was a cut and paste out of the CANCON rules, I'll edit it out. I'm also going to look at the timings and see if I can squeeze an hour out of the program - whaddya think?

MOUNTAIN BOWL.... Two days to go!!!!

The gift dice are here;

We've averted a Nuffle Blitz with the organizer (moi) pulling out due to an unavoidable personal drama, but Adam S has saved the day, thx Adam Sesperez

And I have some of the team sheets. Ie, .... Please send them through asap (bill.knine@yahoo.com.au).... you know who you are (and I will pm you shortly)
(Gnomie - read your messenger messages!!!!).

Coaches:

Garden Nome (yet to pay)
Luis Vrinat (paid)
Anthony Vrinat (paid)
Marco de Ruggiero (paid)
Steven Thoms (paid)
Roland Lettau (paid)
Geoff Turner (paid)
Adam Sesperez (paid)
Dan Hutchi (yet to pay)
Dan Gao (tentative)
James Russell-Wills (tentative)
Tupi (???)

Have I missed anyone?

We could use 1-2 more coaches to make sure we get across the line for NAF recognition. The more the merrier.

Cheers, Bill
