Other States organisation?

Post by Babs »

OK - I can see that NSW are organised and well on their way. However, what about:
* SA
* WA
* VIC
(These guys should be pretty organised - are they organising this somewhere else - such as the WA guys on Westgamer?)

* ACT ?
* QLD ?

...
Also I presume that NZ are easily able to field both a North Island and South Island team.

Keen to know more details about where everyone else is up to and selection criteria they are using (I'm only familiar with NSW).

SA has 4 of 6 coaches locked in. The final 2 will be determined at SSB 2019.

I think it's fair to say after hosting last time the Vics are a little slow off the mark for 2020. However, I expect we will be there without issue.

Likely we will base it on Vic tournament winners over 2019/early 2020.

Edit: detail and English.

Not being much of a team player, I'm going to let the cat out of the bag with the VIC preparations. We are dealing with the current technological limitations, but are confident of being able to send a team of 5 Fortis clones, ably led by the original Fortis himself.

Also.... I seem to recall that it was a requirement for entrants to have a presence here on Ausbowl. Are we really going to continue with the farce that this site is still relevant?

I do not recall that requirement.

Forums have more permanency than most forms of social media. Additionally, not everyone is on social media. And it is much much easier to find groups in a forum like this than on an unseen/ closed FB group.

More traffic too if some didn't choose to make stuff 'secret squirrel' behind closed doors... :P

Perhaps it was a VIC team thing.

The point about this site being irrelevant still stands.

I can say for certain that this has never been a thing for anyone representing SA, and I've never heard any other team mention it before.

I'm not sure NZ has enough alcohol available to meet the requirements of 6 Fortises.

Good to hear that Dr. He and Chinese cloners are not quite medically shunned everywhere and will be used for the purpose of creating Team Vic in 2020.

Are the NZ teams on track?

What about ACT and QLD - have we heard anything from them (or, for that matter, WA - although I am less concerned about them)?

The WA boys were on track and working through the process when I spoke to them at SSB a few months back.

Given that the ACT and Qld couldn't field a team for either Perth or Melbourne, I think it is very unlikely that they will get a team across to NZ, even with 3 years' notice.

WA have a plan in place, some qualifying tournaments and some voted places as we don't really have enough tournaments. It will come down to who is willing to pay to go over ultimately though.

First 2 members of the WA team to qualify are Julian Palmer and Nathan Gall.

No. There are 2 more qualifying events to be held, and the part 2 spots will go to 2 different votes.

I'm a part of the organising committee which has put these methods of qualification in place and we are also trying to raise some money to try help the team.

Both qualifying events so far, I've been unable to attend or fully attend, so I'll make more serious attempts at the future events.

As just about the nearest thing to a representative QLD has, I think I can safely say there's zero chance of a team from this state.
